What’s your favorite nursery rhyme? When was the last time you get to sing one? Check out this family-friendly video of the kids singing “Rain Rain Go Away. Come Again Another Day” while I play the guitar por Rumba Flamenca, sort of. Another good thing about being under quarantine is that we get EVEN MORE father and son bonding time. On the 30th day of coronavirus lockdown here in Spain, we finally got around to uploading this video on YouTube (link below).
As what has become our coronavirus isolation-routine now, normally our kids play paper football on the roof. We spend ours there, also singing songs, pitching make-up tents and, lately, roasting marshmallows over camping butane gas burner. When there’s rain in the horizon, however, we get to stay inside and sing our songs. This is the first nursery rhyme that came to mind, 3 weeks ago when we had three days of rain.
Unlike the Christmas songs that we recorded in our mobile studio, like Jingle Bells and Joy to the World, we recorded this one live (en directo) to capture the spontaneous atmosphere that the kids were doing at the time. It’s a fun jam session.
Sing along with us to Rain Rain Go Away Lyrics
We included subtitles of the lyrics on the videos so you sing along with us whether it’s raining or NOT (of course, especially when it’s raining wherever you are!).
Rain, rain go away
Come again another day
Little [say name of your child] wants to play
Rain, rain go away
popular children’s song
We sang the verse 6 times on the short video. On the first and second time we sang Kajush and Karol’s names, respectively. On the 3rd and 4th iterations we left enough blank space for you to insert or say your name or your child’s name. On the 5th and last time, sing “children” instead of a name, if you want.
How to play Rain Rain Go Away nursery rhyme On the guitar for beginners
We’ve included guitar chords/tabs for you stay-at-home dads or whoever you are out there who wants to learn how to play this simple kid-friendly, old-school children song. It’s also good for those of you who wants to learn how to play the guitar. This is an easy song but fun! Remember when you used to sing it?
What’s fun about this version is that I played in the style of festive Rumba Flamenca on acoustic guitar, well…sort of.
I included the guitar chords/tabs on the video and also below. I modified the chords (kudos to Fret Jam.com) them to fit the actual chords that I played. Basically the chord pattern is: Cmaj (3x) – Emaj7th – Fmaj#11 (2x) – Cmaj (2x).
I noted the additional notes that I used with red stars. The ones that I think are particularly unique in this version is the addition of the following chords that are more non-standard or exotic sounding, if not flamenco.
So here’s where you play the guitar chords on the lyrics.
Cmaj
Rain, rain go away
Cmaj Emaj7th
Come again another day
Fmaj#11
Little [say name of your child] wants to play
Cmaj
Rain, rain go away
popular children song with guitar chords

That’s it. Thanks for stopping by. See you next time.
