Visiting Beautiful Poland: Energylandia with Young Kids in Pictures

What’s a great incentive for kids to convince them to do lots of sightseeing with their parents?? Theme park!!! It does magic. All of the sudden no matter what museum you want to see or what mountain you want to climb, the answer is yes! The condition is of course a day in Energylandia–the biggest theme park in Europe, full of crazy rides, slides, rollercoasters .. you name it! Here it is, our visit to Energylandia (aka kid’s heaven) on our camping road trip number 5, in pictures.

With 123 attractions over a huge swathe of land 50 kilometers near Krakow, Energylandia is the largest amusement park in Poland that is guaranteed to entertain the young, the really young ones and the young-at hearts.

Story goes that Krakow was so beautiful that art-loving Hitler himself ordered his generals NOT to BOMB it. Imagine that! So, when you visit Krakow (that is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places to visit in Poland) make sure to save a day or two for the family-friendly, kid-approved Energylandia which is about 1.5-hour drive (about 57 kilometers) to the west of Krakow.

“C’mon, baby, let’s Ride ‘n’ Roll!” Our son rallies up the troop to ride the DRAGON ADVENTURE and the WONDER WHEEL, both shown in the back.

With so many things to do and places to see near Krakow, you can easily stay here for two weeks. Be careful though as some you’d meet in a pub crawl, for example, came for a visit and never left.

SPACE GUN. Yup, NOT for us. . . not just because the kids are under 12 and one under 120 centimeters tall, also because this older kid called dad is scared sh*tfull!

Energylandia is one of the must-see, must-do, must-visit places when visiting Krakow, especially if you have kids.

ARCTIC FUN slides.

It’s an amusement park located only 50 kilometers from Krakow and easily worth a one day stop–actually 3 days to ride all the rides and enjoy everything that it has to offer!

Kids’ heaven in a place near Krakow, Poland with so many zones you’ll need at least 3 days to cover them all: EXTREME zone (10 rides), LITTLE KIDS zone (25 rides/attractions), FAMILY zone (14), WATER PARK zone (4), DRAGON zone (6) and AQUALANTIS (9).

We’re here with young children under 12 so we ended up visiting 4 of the 5 main zones (that means NO-GO for the rides in the EXTREME ZONE!).

Egyptian-themed PYRAMID CINNEMA–one of the many theatres that adds a different kind of fun to your visit with at least 5 shows per day, from waterworks to circus, to fire and ice and whatever else they can think of!
WATERPARK with a boat in the middle of the big swimming pools, slides and an area for smaller kids. Unfortunately, it rained and the boys, being half-Poles, were cold.
SPLASH BATTLE ship. Watch out for snipers all around who could get you really wet!
The bigger BOOMERANG rollercoaster and this alien-themed MARS was the closest we could get to a rollercoaster ride. Good ’nuff for this dad. Thank God, Allah and the Big Fat Buddha!
Swimming in rain in between rollercoaster rides.

Atop FRUTTI LOOP ride for our FAMILY FUN adventure. Hey, now, don’t laugh! It’s goo enough for this scaredy little dad!

21 days of family camping road trip number 5. This time it’s all in Polska–the beautiful land of Poles.

Next Stop:

Here’s the rest of what we plan to see and do in Poland’s south/southeast region on this year’s family camping road trip:

  • Olsztyn and the trail of the Eagle’s nest,
  • Black Madonna of Częstochowa,
  • Krakow and the nearby attractions (Energylandia, Wadowice, Wieliczka Salt Mine),
  • Pieniny mountain,
  • drive through Slovakia’s southern Carpathian mountain,
  • stop by the Saint Magdalene church in Dukla,
  • do some trekking in the Bieszczady mountains and cross over into cross over to Ukraine (… maybe ; ),
  • go see about a famous beetle in Szczebrzeszyn,
  • and a charming art town of Kazimierz Dolny.
Some things to see in the south/southeast of Poland during our family camping road trip. This is from a family-friendly, kid-approved book that we mainly use for planning road trips: MAPS by Aleksandra and Daniel Mizielinski/Big Pictures Press. Go get it! Highly Recommended! (and no, NO, NOOOOoo, we are not getting paid for mentioning this!)
